David Gleeson
David joined Porters Park as head professional in 1988, from Hythe Imperial Golf
Club in Kent.
He took up golf, aged 15, at Royal St George’s Golf Club in Kent. A year later, aged 16, he turned
professional with a handicap of 1.
In 1971, he passed through the PGA school, as its youngest fully-qualified professional, and in 1977 he
became the youngest club professional in Kent, at Walmer and Kingsdown Golf Club.
Since joining Porters Park, he has devoted his time to teaching and making and repairing golf equipment,
thereby continuing the traditions of the true golf professional.
An expert in the mental side of golf, he holds a diploma in sports psychology and is a keen exponent of NLP
(neuro-linguistic programming), which is a technique that helps people achieve their full potential.
Married with two sons, he is a keen supporter of Tottenham Hotspur.
David provides individual and group tuition on the club’s practice ground.
